Words of Wisdom:

“Diseases can be our spiritual flat tires - disruptions in our lives that seem to be disasters at the time but end by
redirecting our lives
in a meaningful way.”

~Bernie S. Siegel

For over 10 years, I've worked very successfully with individuals, couples, and families. While my practice focuses on couples and individual adults, I also work very effectively with families and adolescents.

I offer a range of counseling services in three basic areas:

Couple & Relationship Issues:

  • Support for couples and individuals having difficulties with intimacy, communication, anger expression, and sexuality. These basic issues are so inter-related that support in one area can positively affect the others.
  • Support for family life in the form of education and skill-building for conscious parenting and respectful partnership. I hold a deep belief that fostering healthy parental relationships is the most important contribution that I can make to family life, so that future generations of children can reap the emotional and psychological benefits.
  • Commitment to pre-marital counseling and divorce prevention. What if a person entered marriage knowing how to navigate the ups-and-downs and avoid crashing? I offer guidance with a road-map and tools for the journey.
  • Support and counsel to manage the challenges of divorce recovery and complexities that accompany blended families.
  • Support for individuals having challenges in the workplace or in other social settings. You will receive support to understand what works and doesn't work and develop the appropriate assertiveness skills for win-win results.

  • Committed support for managing anxiety, panic, PTSD and depression, as well, susbstance abuse and addictions.
  • Commitment to a person's transforming their stuck-ness and struggles into finding meaning and purpose amid spirituality issues and creativity blocks.

Adjusting to Change:

Whenever we experience big changes or transitions in our lives, whether the changes are "good" events or not, we can experience any range of feelings and may have reactions that surprise us. Anxiety and depression, as well as acting out with anger or compulsive behaviors can result when one is confronted with the stresses of any big adjustment,  "desired" or "challenging", planned or unexpected.

  • Counseling to persons dealing with adjusting to major life changes like moving one's residencemarriage, the birth of children, divorce, illness, and other important life changes.
  • Education and life coaching for dealing with important transitions - planned or unexpected - such as launching teens, dealing with aging parents, re-marriage, job changes, or changes in economic status.

I work with clients based on a commitment to meeting once a week, ideally for a minimum of 4-6 weeks. Sessions last approximately 50 minutes and I often assign homework between sessions. I believe that reinforcing the session with actions and intentions, even very briefly, will enhance the effectiveness of our work together and give you the value that you deserve for your investment.

The fees for a single 50-minute session range between $120 and $150.

I no longer provide insurance forms for reimbursement.

Thoughts on Recovery from Loss:

“Recovery means claiming your circumstances instead of your circumstances claiming your happiness...

Recovery is finding new meaning for living without the fear of future abandonment...

Recovery is being able to enjoy fond memories without having them precipitate painful feelings of loss, regret, or remorse...

Recovery is acknowledging that it is perfectly all right to feel bad from time to time and to talk about those feelings no matter how those around you react...

Recovery is being able to forgive others when they say or do things that you know are based on their lack of knowledge about grief...

Recovery is one day realizing that your ability to talk about the loss you’ve experienced is in fact helping another person get through his or her loss.”

“Love brings our issues to the surface. It is because of the closeness and the possibility of love in the relationship that these issues emerge.

Many of us blame our relationship problems on the lack of love, but it is actually the love in the relationship that has brought forth the issues.”
